ScrollLight ("the app") is a screen-time awareness tool for short-form video. This
policy describes exactly what the app reads, what it stores, and what it shares. The
short version is the same promise the app makes on first launch: everything ScrollLight
learns stays on your device, and the app itself transmits nothing.
WHAT THE APP READS
With your explicit consent, given inside the app before anything is counted,
ScrollLight uses Android's accessibility service to read the on-screen content of five
apps only: Instagram (Reels — and the home feed, if you switch its separate timer on),
YouTube (Shorts), TikTok, Facebook (Reels) and Snapchat (Spotlight). The service is
registered with Android for exactly these five apps; the operating system does not
deliver it events from any other app.
From those screens the app derives only what its counters need: that a short video is
on screen, an anonymised fingerprint of the current item (so the same video is not
counted twice), whether the item is marked as an ad (ads are excluded from your
counts), and how long you stay. It does not read, derive or store your messages,
passwords, photos, contacts, or anything in any other app.
WHAT THE APP STORES — ON YOUR DEVICE ONLY
- Daily video counts and scroll times, per supported app
- Your Instagram home-feed time, if that timer is enabled
- Your goals and their per-day history, and your garden's progress
- Your settings (overlay layout and colours, selected apps, blocking preferences,
app locks, your display name if you chose to give one)
- Whether this Google account has ScrollLight Pro (a single yes/no)
All of this is stored in the app's private storage on your device. There is no
account, no cloud copy, and no backup made by us. Uninstalling the app permanently
deletes all of it. You can also stop all reading at any time by switching the service
off in Android Settings → Accessibility, or by declining or withdrawing consent in
the app.
WHAT THE APP TRANSMITS
Nothing. The app does not request the Internet permission; it has no ability to send
data anywhere, and no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting services are included.
The single exception is handled by Google, not by the app: ScrollLight Pro is a
subscription purchased through Google Play's billing system. The purchase happens
inside Google Play; ScrollLight never sees your payment details. Google processes that
transaction under its own terms and privacy policy
(https://policies.google.com/privacy). From the purchase, the app learns and stores
only whether Pro is active on this Google account, so it can unlock the paid
features — including after a reinstall.
CHILDREN
ScrollLight is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal
information from anyone. It collects no personal information from adults either.
CHANGES
If a future version changes what the app reads, stores or transmits, this policy will
be updated first and the change will be called out in the app's update notes. The
current version of the policy always applies.
